Mario welcomes new driver, Alli Owens to the DGM Race Team

GOSSELIN AND OWENS TEST TWICE AT TALLEDEGA
Lake Wales, FL  (01/25/08) – Mario Gosselin and his new DGM Racing teammate Alli Owens have been to Talledega Superspeedway twice in the past couple of weeks for testing in preparation for the upcoming “ARCA 200” at Daytona International Speedway.

“Our first test session was cut short by rain,” said Gosselin, “so we decided to go back when the opportunity arose.”  “We tried several different combinations, learned some things and are really happy with our results from the first session, but there were still quite a few items left on our list (of things to try) when we got rained out.  So we went back and did some additional testing in an effort to try to find a little more speed.    Overall, Alli and I are very happy with our racecars.  Testing is done and we are ready to race.  We are both excited and really looking forward to Daytona.”

The “ARCA 200” is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, February 9th, 2008.  The event will be broadcast live on SPEED at 4 pm eastern and will serve as a show-opener for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star race, the Budweiser Shootout, which is scheduled to be run later on that same night.

Mario, who is a three time winner in the ARCA RE/MAX Series has performed well in his prior Daytona starts.  He still has prime sponsorship positions available for the event.  For more information on Mario and his DGM Racing team, log onto www.mariogosselin.com.  For sponsorship inquiries and opportunities please contact James Carter at (941) 746-6788 or (941) 737-3077.

Gosselin looking forward to return to Daytona
Lake Wales, FL  (01/07/08) – It’s been almost a year since Mario Gosselin battled for the win during the running of last year’s “ARCA 200” at the historic 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway.   Next month the ARCA RE/MAX Series will once again open its season at the famed Daytona Int’l Speedway.  This year’s event will mark the 45th running of the race and the 56th consecutive year of competition for the Series.

Considering how things went last year, Mario can hardly wait for the chance to compete again at the high banked Superspeedway.  During last year’s running of the ARCA 200 he had a strong car and appeared to be in contention for the win.  Using pit strategy he took the lead and then maintained it for 21 laps holding off the challenges of other competitors, including the eventual race winner, Bobby Gerhart.  Unfortunately, an incident coming off turn two ultimately took him out of contention for the win, though he did return to race and managed to get a respectable 13th place finish.

“Last year we were really good at Daytona,” said Gosselin during a recent interview.  “This year we are doing our best to be even better.  Every year the competition gets tougher and tougher in the ARCA Series.  I don’t expect it to be any different this year.  The test in December went really well for our entire DGM Racing team.  We brought two drivers that are new to ARCA,  Alli Owens and Andrew Ranger, with us to the test.   They performed very well, even better than I initially expected.  With four cars and four drivers (Gosselin, Owens, Ranger & John Jackson) it was a lot of work, but the results were well worth the effort.  We are currently planning to go to Talledega later this month for some more testing.  All I can tell you is that we’ve been working really hard to get ready for this race.  If our hard work pays off, we ought to be in good shape and definitely one of the teams in contention for the win come raceday.”

Oddly enough, Gosselin and his team still have both primary and associate sponsorship position available for the upcoming event.  Though he has some support from returning sponsors and friends for the race, he definitely needs to locate additional sponsors for this big race.   As Gosselin recently put it, “We are very thankful for the support we have, but we really do need to make a deal with a primary sponsor and some new associate sponsors who can benefit by all that we have to offer.   Sponsors make this all possible.  Without them, we simply can’t afford to compete.”

In 36 starts in the ARCA RE/MAX series, Mario has 3 wins, 10 top fives and 15 top ten finishes.  He has led 285 laps in 10 races and has 2 poles to his credit

MARIO FINISHES STRONG AT KANSAS
Lake Wales, FL  (04/27/07)
– After struggling at Nashville, Mario returned to “normal” and had a strong run at Kansas.   With just a handful of laps remaining in the rain delayed event, Mario held off the leader and managed to stay on the lead lap when the final caution of the day came out.   When the race was restarted, Mario was just outside the top ten, but he didn’t stay there for long.  Within just a  few, laps he made it all the way up to challenge Erin Crocker with the Ray Evernham team for the fourth place position.  They had a spirited battle that lasted for several laps before Mario was finally able to make the pass stick.  Unfortunately, by that time the race was nearly over and so he had to settle for the fourth place finish.  Mario already has a three wins to his credit in the ARCA RE/MAX series and was hoping to win again.

“That was a lot of fun,” said Gosselin immediately after the race.  “The car was starting to feel pretty good there at the end, we just ran out of time.  Who knows, if we had a couple of more laps, maybe we could have raced those guys for the win.  All in all though, we had a good day and I am very happy that we brought it home without a scratch and managed to get another top-five finish.”

Gosselin and his team had the support of several returning sponsors for the race, plus the support of the FAMOUS DAVE’S BARBEQUE Restaurant located just outside the racetrack.

“We were fortunate to have the support of all our returning sponsors as well as the assistance from FAMOUS DAVE’S BARBEQUE of Kansas City.  Without them we simply couldn’t compete,” said Gosselin.

In 32 starts in the ARCA RE/MAX series, Mario has 3 wins, 9 top fives and 14 top ten finishes.  He has led 262 laps in 8 races and has 2 poles to his credit.

GOSSELIN HOPES TO MAKE “MUSIC” AGAIN AT NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY,  Lake Wales, FL  (04/03/07) – After strong runs at both Daytona International Speedway and USA International Speedway, Mario Gosselin can hardly wait to return to the Nashville Superspeedway for the ARCA 150 which will be held Saturday, April 7th, 2007 beginning at 12:00 noon CST.   Mario has already compiled an impressive record at the 1.3 mile Superspeedway, including a win in last year’s fall ARCA RE/MAX Series race.  He will be driving the same #12 DGM Racing Chevrolet that propelled him to the win last year with hopes of making some “music” of his own one more time in the Music City.
"Nashville is definitely one of our favorite tracks,” said Gosselin while making final preparations for the trip to Tennessee.  “We always seems to run well there.  As much as we love the place, the truth is we weren’t even sure if we were going to make it for this race until just a couple of days ago.  Our budget has been really tight lately and oddly enough, we didn’t have a lot of success getting the needed sponsor support for this event.

Anyway, everybody on our team really loves Nashville so we decided we are going to go for it and give it our best shot one more time.  Besides, my girls (Megan & Madison) keep telling me they would really like to get another guitar for our trophy case.   I didn’t make them any promises, but I can tell you this, if we are running with the leaders with 10 or 20 laps to go, you’d better hang on to your hat because it’s going to get exciting!”

Gosselin and his team are currently fifth (5th) in the points and are seeking to secure additional sponsorship support so they can compete for the series championship.   Several of Mario’s longtime supporters returned for the event, including James Carter- Attorney at Law, Drawdy Brothers Construction II, Back-On-Track Chiropractic, Fixatire, Underwire-services.com , DGM Enterprises and Sticky-Stuff Graphics.

In 31 career starts in the ARCA RE/MAX series, Mario has 3 wins, 8 top fives and 13 top ten finishes.  He has led 283 laps in 9 races and has 2 poles to his credit.   In this year’s season opener at Daytona he led 21 laps  before suffering a late race crash and finishing in 13th place.  In last month’s inaugural running of the Construct Corps-Palm Beach Grading 250  at Lakeland, Florida’s USA International Speedway, Mario was once again in contention for the win until a cut tire cost him the chance to battle for the win and relegated him to a 12th place finish.

“We are hoping for some good luck to go along with all our hard work.  Meanwhile, we would love to have and really need some additional marketing partners for this race and the rest of this season.  We have space available if anyone is interested,” said Gosselin.

CUT TIRE COSTS MARIO CHANCE FOR WIN AT LAKELAND (Lakeland, FL - 3/25/07)

As predicted by many, Mario Gosselin had a strong weekend of competition at Lakeland’s USA International Speedway in the inaugural running of the Construct Corps-Palm Beach Grading 250 this past Saturday night. He qualified fourth in his Guaranteed Concrete -James Carter Attorney #12 Chevrolet and ran in the lead pack most of the event despite suffering damage from a couple of early incidents where he was the innocent victim.

With a less than 50 laps to go in the 250 lap race Mario began to make a strong charge towards the front.  He was putting on quite a show for the large crowd of spectators passing cars high and low around the 3/4 mile racetrack.  He made it all the way up to second place just before cutting down a left front tire while going into turn one.  Though he managed to keep going, he went one lap down while trying to get back to the pits for repairs and as a result wound up finishing in 12th position, the first car one lap down.

"I sure thought we had them covered until we cut that tire down," said Gosselin following the race.

"I really hate that we didn’t get a chance to battle for the lead and the win tonight in front of all our family, friends and supporters here in central Florida. I was trying to give it my best shot here at home. We had managed to work our way back up to the front after some early race problems.  We were in good position to win the race just prior to the problem with the left front tire.  The car was great, I was catching the 40 car pretty quick and we were ahead of the 32 (the eventual race winner James Buescher) when it happened.  I couldn’t believe it.  I thought to myself, not again! You gotta understand this place has been very good to me at times, but very painful at others. This is not the first time I’ve lost a chance to win here  because of a tire problem late in the race. It just wasn’t meant to be but, we had a good time racing here at home.  I hope the series will return again next year so we can give it another shot."

LAKELAND FL (3-13-07) - Gosselin Goes Home; Lessons at Lakeland on the way  In most cases, chasing the ARCA RE/MAX Series tour from the Sunshine State is not exactly a cakewalk. Proximity-wise, outside of Daytona, the series just doesn't venture anywhere all that close to our friends in Florida.

That said, if Lake Wales, Florida driver Mario Gosselin wanted to go RE/MAX Series racing, he had to put, in many cases, about a thousand miles behind him to get there. Not anymore. Not since USA Int'l Speedway in Lakeland, Florida popped up on the 2007 schedule.

For once, the ARCA RE/MAX Series is coming to Gosselin, and not the other way around.

"The track's about 40 minutes from the shop, so this is as home as it gets for DGM Racing," said Gosselin, who was en route to USA Int'l Monday for an afternoon of testing on the .75-mile tight oval.

"We can't go to our hometown track and look like idiots; and we haven't done all that much ARCA short-track racing, so we've got to get better."

But getting better at any level of ARCA RE/MAX Series racing has not been an issue whatsoever for Gosselin. Not when you consider that the short-track veteran won in his first series start at Lowe's Motor Speedway in 1999 from the pole. He not only won the race, but he led all but nine laps during his superspeedway debut, leaving the regulars scratching their heads.

In another twist of irony, the same chassis he won with at Lowe's will be the same chassis he's preparing for the Saturday night, March 24 Construct Corps-Palm Beach Grading 250 at USA Int'l.

"We wrecked this car at Atlanta in, I think, 2000. We haven't raced it since. So we thought we'd sneak over this afternoon to get a baseline of where we're at. I've never raced an ARCA car here before."

Well, that may be true, but I wouldn't allow yourself to breathe a sigh of relief on that premise. Because, if there's clear-cut favorite to win, Gosselin's got to go right to the top of the chart.

"I think we've won five or six total there. I know we've won two or three in Pro Cup there and the rest in Super Late Models. But I've never run the Hoosier Tire there before; Hooters ran Goodyear's and then went to radials. We're just going to throw a bunch of stuff at it and see where we stack up. You've got to be in the low 22s to be good. What's amazed me is how many ARCA teams have been down here testing. We know we're going to have to get up on the wheel."

But again, getting up on the wheel has never been a problem for the St. Marie Quebec-born driver. In only 30 career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts since 1999, he's already tallied up eight top-five finishes and 13 top-10s including three victories at Lowe's Motor Speedway '99, Nashville Superspeedway '03 and Nashville ‘06. He also finished second at Pocono Raceway '06, third at Lowe's '99, third at Pocono '02 and fourth at Nashville '04.

Through it all, Gosselin's managed to lead 283 laps in nine races, including in this year's ARCA 200 at Daytona where he led 21 circuits. And many of those stellar finishes came on tracks unfamiliar to Gosselin. USA Int'l, on the other hand, is quite familiar.

"It's pretty generic....a typical short-track.....pretty easy to figure out actually. It's a lot like Toledo. If you can turn through the middle and get forward bite coming off the corners, you'll be good. If you're not turning, you're done; and the longer the run, the worse it gets. The more you heat up the right front, the more junk you are."

Gosselin's biggest obstacle, however, has never been set-ups or race savvy and skill. He's quite capable in each category. And if he could find a title sponsor, the rest of the competition knows full-well they'd all have their hands full with Gosselin, who would become an instant title contender.

"We've always wanted to run the whole ARCA schedule. It's got everything on it a race driver could ever want....big tracks, short-tracks, dirt-tracks; it's got everything. If we could ever land that title sponsor we'll do ‘em all, but until then, we're limited, realistically, on what we can do.

"Right now, we're planning on running through Nashville. Unless we get something solid, and we're working on some things, but unless we find a partner then we're probably out for a while after Nashville. We don't want to be, but that's where we're at right now, but we haven't given up yet."

Longtime supporters' Guaranteed Concrete and James Carter Attorney at Law will serve as associate sponsors for Gosselin's Lakeland effort.

Tickets to the Construct Corps-Palm Beach Grading 250 are available in advance by calling USA Int'l Speedway (800) 984-7223. A full weekend of on-track activity is scheduled at the .75-mile paved oval, beginning with an open practice session from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Eastern on Friday, March 23, 2007. The series will practice, qualify and race on Saturday, March 24, 2007.

MARIO GOSSELIN HEADS BACK TO SCHOOL

Lake Wales, FL  (02/26/07) – Mario Gosselin recently cleared some time between his preparations for next month’s “Construct Corps/Palm Beach Grading 250” ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Lakeland’s USA International Speedway,  for a special return trip back to elementary school.

The purpose of his visit was to encourage and help bolster the students for their upcoming FCAT testing.  The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) is part of Florida’s overall plan to increase student achievement by implementing higher standards.  All Florida students in grades 3-11 are required to take the exam each year.

Mario and his familiar #12 racecar made the special appearance at an Elementary school in Lake Wales, FL, with hopes of giving a little extra boost to the students for their upcoming big test.  The school has about 600 students which were divided into several smaller groups to allow them to have a better opportunity to interact with Mario.  Each of the groups of  children were given the opportunity to talk with Mario, ask questions and the opportunity to take a close look at his #12 ARCA RE/MAX Series racecar.   The event was a huge success and very well received by the students, teachers and staff.

“It was a lot of fun,” said Gosselin.   “The kids were great and had some very interesting questions for me.  I found out that some of them are already race fans and others are just curious to learn more about our sport.  It was a good day at school day for me and hopefully a benefit for the kids.”

Gosselin and his DGM race team are looking forward to next month’s inaugural ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Lakeland’s USA International Speedway.   The speedway is only about an hour away from Mario’s shop and a familiar site of competition for him.  He has several wins at the speedway having won in both the Hooter’s Pro Cup Series and in the Super Late Model Series.  In 30 starts in the ARCA RE/MAX series, Mario has 3 wins, 8 top fives and 13 top ten finishes.  He has led 283 laps in 9 races and has 2 poles to his credit.   In this year’s season opener at Daytona he led for 21 laps before a late race incident, but managed to battle back to a respectable 13th place finish.

MARIO GOSSELIN AND DGM RACING READY FOR RETURN TO DAYTONA FOR ARCA 200

Lake Wales, FL  (02/03/07) – After preparing multiple speedway cars during the break and doing two test sessions (i.e., Daytona and Talledega) DGM Racing is finally ready for the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.  The team is owned by Mario Gosselin who is also the driver of the team’s #12 Chevrolet.  Mario has a three wins to his credit in the ARCA RE/MAX series and is eagerly looking forward to the chance to win again.

“Daytona is a huge challenge,” said Gosselin.  “It’s the biggest race of the year and probably the most difficult to prepare for.  What was good last year won’t be good enough this year so we constantly strive to get better.  Meanwhile, you can never be quite sure how well you are going to ‘stack-up’ against your competition until everyone gets to the track and the competition begins.  All I can tell you is that we’ve worked really hard during the past few months in an effort get ready for this race and the new season.  Hopefully it will begin to pay off for us starting next week.”

Gosselin and his team are proud to have the support of several returning sponsors for this year’s ARCA 200 at Daytona.   DAN-MARC CONSTRUCTION out of Canada has returned as a sponsor for the event and is being joined by Fixatire, Attorney James Carter, Guaranteed Concrete, Underwire.OTR.com and Sticky-Stuff Graphics.

“We are pleased to have the support of all our sponsors as without them we simply couldn’t compete,” said Gosselin.  “My sponsors for this race are basically friends who love racing and who just want to help me have the chance to show what I can do in this series.   We still need, and are seeking to obtain, additional marketing partners for this race and the rest of the season.”

In 29 starts in the ARCA RE/MAX series, Mario has 3 wins, 8 top fives and 13 top ten finishes.  He has led 262 laps in 8 races and has 2 poles to his credit.   In last year’s season opener at Daytona he ran near the front most of the day and finished 9th
